Job description

Business Development Executive

Location: Bristol (BS1 4HX)

This is a 360° sales role for someone who is motivated by winning new business and wants to build a successful career in a high-growth global advertising company. You’ll play a key role in driving new business for our growing digital media business, identifying and engaging senior decision-makers across the higher education sector, building strong commercial relationships and taking opportunities from initial prospecting through to close.

About Hybrid:

Hybrid is an award-winning global marketing agency specialising in higher education. With six offices worldwide and more than 16 years of experience, we’ve launched successful campaigns with universities and education brands across the globe.
Today, we’re a leading name in the sector, with a strong share of the university market and over 40% year-on-year growth. As part of EAB, we’re continuing to build on that success, expanding our digital solutions and capabilities to offer even more to the education sector.

What You’ll Do:

• Own the full 360° new business sales cycle, from identifying and prospecting new opportunities through to pitching, negotiating and closing deals.
• Identify and engage senior stakeholders across the higher education sector, building relationships with decision-makers and uncovering genuine commercial opportunities.
• Use a multi-channel approach, combining phone, email, LinkedIn and other creative approaches to generate conversations and build your pipeline.
• Take a discovery-led approach to sales, asking the right questions to understand client challenges, priorities and objectives before positioning relevant digital media solutions.
• Deliver compelling pitches and presentations, clearly articulating the value of our products and how they can help universities reach and influence highly relevant audiences.
• Use market knowledge, data and research to identify relevant prospects and personalise your approach, ensuring your outreach is targeted and commercially compelling.
• Manage your own pipeline and sales activity, taking ownership of your targets and consistently working towards and exceeding revenue goals.
• Build long-term relationships with prospects and clients, becoming a trusted commercial partner and identifying opportunities for future growth.

What you’ll have:

• Previous experience in sales, business development or another commercially focused role, ideally with at least 2 years of B2B sales experience.
• A proven appetite for new business and a genuine motivation to win, with the resilience to keep going when you hear “no”.
• Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders and the ability to build rapport, establish credibility and understand business needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver persuasive pitches and clearly communicate commercial value.
• A proactive, energetic and tenacious approach – you’re comfortable taking ownership, creating opportunities and being accountable for your results.
• Commercial curiosity and the ability to use research, data and insight to identify potential clients and understand their challenges.
• A target-driven mindset, with the ambition to hit and exceed revenue targets and build a high-performing sales career.
• Coachability and a willingness to learn new sales methodologies, while also having the confidence to develop your own style and approach.
• Organisation and resilience, with the ability to manage a busy pipeline, prioritise activity and consistently follow opportunities through to completion.

What’s in it for you:

• Central Bristol location – just off King Street and a 10-minute walk from Temple Meads
• Christmas shutdown – enjoy time off between Christmas and New Year
• £25 monthly wellbeing allowance towards your physical or mental wellbeing
• Holiday flexibility – carry over up to 3 unused days each year
• Enhanced maternity & paternity leave
• Health and Wellbeing – access mental health support via our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and a subscription to the Calm app
• Investing in your development – a dedicated annual allowance of learning hours, regular training sessions and support from our in-house Director of Learning & Performance to help you develop and progress
• Time to celebrate – Annual Summer and Christmas parties and regular team away days
• Office perks – free weekly breakfast and fresh fruit
• Commuter-friendly facilities – secure bike storage, showers and changing facilities on-site
